Kintsugi art series
The art series is based on the aesthetics and philosophy of Kintsugi – a traditional Japanese art form that involves repairing broken pottery with lacquer mixed and/or adorned with powdered gold, emphasising the cracks and thus turning “flaws” into unique features. Symbolically, Kintsugi celebrates resilience, acceptance of change, and embracing imperfections as part of our history. The message of the abstract paintings series is that our most challenging times can bring out the best of us, making us stronger and more empathetic, helping us grow and appreciate the good in the world – just like the gold shines through the cracks. The art series consisting of 40 paintings altogether – 10 watercolours, 10 small acrylic canvas boards, 10 mixed media collages and 10 large acrylic canvases. All of them feature real 23K gold leaf detailing.
